Ubuntu 18.04 screen record with build-in recorder

Usage

Ctrl+Alt+Shift+R to start or stop recording.

Features

  • Recording automatically stops after 30 seconds (time can be changed).
  • A red circle in the top right corner indicates that the recording is in progress.
  • Automatically saved in user’s Videos folder in the WebM format.

Settings

sudo apt install dconf-editor

Two keys could be modified

  • /org/gnome/settings-daemon/plugins/media-keys/max-screencast-length
  • /org/gnome/settings-daemon/plugins/media-keys/screencast

Hide your username and hostname(user@ubuntu) when recording

export PS1='$'
